Due to the amount exploding e-cigarette batteries, as seen in the media, some manufacturers of 18650 and other-sized batteries have included the warning “Not safe for use in e-cigarettes” on the side of their batteries, making vapers concerned about their safety in using these products.

As mentioned in the Vapers Community article here, the majority of e-cigarette battery explosions are caused by electrical shorts due to user error, uneducated alterations or carrying batteries loose without a protective case.

However, because of these cases, battery manufacturers have begun including these warnings in the small print on the battery wraps in order to avoid responsibility for injuries resulting from their products.

These batteries can still be used in regulated devices, since the device itself has computerized protection from electrical shorts and will not fire if a short is detected.
