National Post letter writers answer the question: “Should e-cigarettes be subject to the same restrictions as tobacco cigarettes?”
Classifying and treating e-cigs as tobacco products unreasonably limits the availability of e-cigs to smokers desiring to make the switch and to those who have used e-cigs to reduce or eliminate tobacco use. Good science, as well as anecdotal accounts, point to e-cigs as being a safe and effective tool in reducing tobacco consumption. Suppositions that e-cigs are a gateway to youth using tobacco are not supported by data from any country. Fear alone should not be used to formulate public policy.
